Rebranding of a computer company in Dresden
Computer Service Dresden is an established family business that has been taking care of IT solutions for end and B2B customers since 2005. Whether it's software updates for a PC or a complex security solution for a company's server system - they have an answer for almost every tech question.
Ben, the managing director, was also looking for answers when he came to me with a problem: "I would like to modernize the company visually, as we want to win new customers in the software engineering division in particular in the future. With our old CI, it's hard to attract bigger customers for us."
I've rarely sat on a branding as long as I did on the one for CSDresden. This was mainly because I sat too long on individual drafts and spent a lot of time defining and vectorizing them. Instead, I should have gone more in depth with pen and paper first and put less emphasis on perfection. That's how I ended up doing it, but a few hours went by before I thought of it. Well, I'm still young.
People who have always known the former logo naturally associate it strongly with the company. In order for a rebranding not to damage the brand, you have to carefully consider which innovations you make and which old things you can shake off. The logo is not really modern and to grow it needs something that looks less like a small screwdriver store around the corner. Especially for the acquisition of customers who need expensive software solutions, a modern logo is therefore important.
It took a few drafts until I could find the right approach. (Of course, I didn't show all the concepts to the customer). In the end we decided on this variant. The logo abstractly represents a screen and combines the dynamics of the arrow with the consistency of a circle.
We commissioned Thomas to rebrand our previous CI. After the very detailed initial meeting, he immediately had a pretty good sense of what design solutions might work for our problem. Of particular note is that Thomas was very responsive to concerns that arose, allowing us to approach the result over several revisions.
